Dr Ron Shapiro

Dr. Shapiro is best known as a world-renowned Hair Transplant Expert, Educator and Author. He has lectured, directed workshops, and perform live surgical demonstrations at International and National Conferences over the past five years.
In 2003, 2010 and 2023, he co-authored the major medical textbook, Hair Transplantation, 4th, 5th and 6th Edition (published by Marcel Dekker). These books are often referred to as the “Bibles” of hair transplantation and are used by physicians all over the world.
Dr. Shapiro is the founder and director of The Shapiro Medical Group in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He heads a select group of hair transplant surgeons, each of whom are recognized as experts in their own right. His clinic specializes in Follicular Unit Tranplantaion and Hairline design.
He has published numerous articles on these subjects. Known for his hands on technical ability, Dr Shapiro is one of a select group of world-renowned physicians regularly honored with invitations to demonstrate his technique at major conferences around the world.
Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Hair Transplant Surgery. He has been elected by his peers to be on the Board of Governors to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).

Prof. Kotaro Yoshimura

Kotaro Yoshimura. M.D. is a professor and chairman of Department of Plastic Surgery at Jichi Medical University, Japan. He received his medical degree and doctorate from University of Tokyo. After returning from research work at University of Michigan, he worked for University of Tokyo and directed his laboratory. His research interests cover skin/hair/scar biology, wound healing/angiogensis, and regenerative medicine.
He published more than 150 full articles published in medline-indexed journals as well as several textbook chapters and was awarded by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as a 38th Maliniac Lecturer in 2016. Prof. Yoshimura is currently Asian Liaison of Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC) and a founding member and vice president of ISPRES.

Prof. Junji Fukuda

Professor Junji Fukuda leads the Bio-Microsystem Laboratory at Yokohama National University. His research team has taken a leap forward in the science of hair restoration by growing fully mature hair follicles in the lab. In their research, organ-like cell clusters called organoids were taken from under mice’s skin and used to grow hair on a petri dish. Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich has been certified and recertified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been trained in hair restoration surgery by Bluford and Dow Stough since 1989.
He was also certified by American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. He was honored as a ‘Pioneer’ posted in the Hair Forum International for his work in donor harvesting to minimize follicular transection. His technique is well known as the ‘Open Technique’.
He is a founder and first president of Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons. He received the Golden Follicle Award for Outstanding and Significant Clinical Contributions Related to Hair Restoration Surgery. He is a member of the ISHRS. His practice is more toward a combination of FUT and FUE for megasessions and for late-stage hair loss.
Lastly, he has published two textbooks: Hair Restoration Surgery in Asians, and Practical Aspects of Hair Transplantation in Asians. A third textbook is soon to be released — Emerging Technologies in Alopecia Treatment.

Dr. Jae Hyun Park is a plastic surgeon associated with the Dana Plastic Surgery Clinic in Seoul, Korea. He was appointed as an official consultant in the field of plastic surgery by NAVER.
With over 18 years’ experience in hair restoration, Dr. Park is a prolific writer and has published numerous articles in the plastic surgery and dermatologic surgery literature. His publications have contributed to improving knowledge in the correction and design of female hairlines, non-shaven follicular unit excision (FUE), long-hair FUE, scalp micropigmentation, scalp laxity, and graft survival. Prof. Duanqing Pei

Dr. Pei received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991; trained as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Michigan from 1991 to 1996. Dr. Pei’s primary interest is to understand cell fate control.
His lab pioneered cellular reprograming early. Using reprograming as a paradigm, he discovered:
1) Vitamin C as an epigenetic regulator that enhances cellular reprograming through histone and DNA demethylations;
2) Epithelial to mesenchymal(EMT) and mesen-chymal to epithelial(MET) transitions as drivers for iPSC generation;
3) Urine epithelial cells as a source of stating cells for reprograming.
He has proposed a chromatin open-close binary logic for cell fate control and an conceptual interface between pluripotent and somatic states. These concepts are still driving current works in the lab.

Prof. Wang is a professor of plastic surgery at Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine and a doctorate in plastic surgery from Southern Medical University, and engaged in postdoctoral research in the Department of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
His research direction is to use multi-center clinical samples, multi-omics analysis and various animal models to reveal the positive effects of skin microbiota on hair follicle regeneration and skin barrier.
